The One With The Scott Brothers Reunion
In our lives, there are people that will come and go. Whether you travel the world or live in the same place your entire life, you’ll have people pass through your lives that made a difference for their time you were with them, then they’re gone. These people are important because they give you those great ‘moment’ memories of your past. I’ve had plenty of those in my world travels and I think back fondly on those people often.
Then, there are people in your life that just won’t go away. No matter where you go, where they go, somehow you keep having moments where they will just show up. I find that these moments are the ones that mean so much!
I was so lucky to receive a message recently that one of my childhood friends Arick and his family were coming to town. I didn’t even have enough time to be excited about that before I found out that his brother Adam would be here with his wife as well.
There is more history than I can go into with these two. Let’s just say, Arick and Adam are both guys I looked up to. Arick was quick witted, brutal on my self esteem, and was always there to pick me up after he would BURY me on back to back hazing. Adam was the guy everyone wanted to be around, yet he always had time for everyone there. Adam is a year older than me and he was a great example of what a truly great person should be.
OK, here’s where I’m going with this. I got to spend a few hours with these guys on Sunday night, and once we got together it was like we never left off. That’s friendship! We didn’t just relive the old days, we talked about our lives now. We’ve all gone in such different directions, and now live such different lives. Even even though I only got a few hours with them, it reminded me that there are people in my life that should always be there. I’m fortunate that they came back to town and we were able to get together. I’m fortunate that I got to share memories with them that only we would truly appreciate. And on top of it all, seeing their lives now, I can honestly say these guys are still worth looking up to.
Friends. They were with you then, they are with you now, and if you’re lucky they’ll be with you years and years to come.
Thank you for being here!
