Disney Magic. There is something to be said for that term. It means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
What it means to me is, Disneyland will always remind me why I keep coming back. Let me take you on an adventure into our most recent day, and you’ll probably think the same thing we did by the end of the day. How lucky are we???
So, as many people know there is construction going on and the Rivers of America does not have the boats circling around at this time. The Mark Twain is parked and anyone can still go on board. During our walk around the boat, we noticed there were people up on the captain’s deck. Curious, we asked a cast member what was going on. The people there were on a “private photo shoot”, so it wasn’t really open to the public. We decided to hang around and wait for these people to come down. Celebrities? Royalty? Turns out…..no, just some random people. But, after they stepped away we asked the cast member that was with them if we could have a quick peek inside. After he looked around to make sure no one was watching, he opened the door and quickly shuffled us in. What came next was an experience not many will get to have.
The view from behind the captain’s wheel was AMAZING! It was a view of the park we’ve never seen before, and I could have stayed there forever! On top of that, we were given our own Pilots Certificate and the cast member with us was amazing! He was funny, let us take our time and we truly were made to feel like we were special. Oh, and there’s more of that to come later!
Celebrity Sighting!!!! Celebrity Sighting!!! We all know that celebrities go to Disneyland, we see it online and on TMZ all the time!! But, for all my visits to Disneyland, I can’t say I’ve actually seen one. By chance, Amanda just happened to see someone, stopped to look, and thought to herself “Hey, that looks like the Late Late Show host James Corden!”. Then, she heard him speak. And WOW she went fan girl!! Then, once I realized who he was, I went fan boy! My first celebrity sighting, I couldn’t believe it. He was at a concession stand buying drinks for his family, and of course he had a Disney “handler” with him so no one could get close. The best we could do was position Amanda in a spot where he was in the background:
If we never see another celebrity again, at least we have the photo proof for this one 🙂
OK, one more celebrity sighting. This one was a bit more staged, but if you know Amanda, you’ll know that she LOVES Belle. By chance, Belle was near the main gate taking photos with lucky park guests that lined up to wait. There was a cast member that had already cut off the line, but when we asked if it was too late, she looked around and said “OK, as long as it’s just you”. Talk about truly making us feel special, and there’s more of that to come!
So, one more piece of magic to come. While walking around at night we wanted to get a photo of ourselves in front of the castle. Here’s the problem, if there’s a parade about to start, you’re not getting anywhere near the front of the castle! So, little known fact, there’s a pretty cool view of the back side of the castle from the carousel in Fantasyland. We went back there and found a photographer that was taking photos of people in front of the carousel. The problem was, he was faced the wrong way. We kindly asked him if he wouldn’t mind turning the camera around and taking out picture with the castle as the back drop. He looked around, looked at his equipment and said “I have a better idea. Let’s move my camera closer to the castle to get a better photo!” We were floored. I truly could not believe this was happening. He walked with us towards the back side of the castle, and had us stand in the perfect spot to snap a few photos. He even told us this was the first time he’s done a photo like this so we were his test subjects. Feeling special moment: Other people were coming up asking him to take their photo next, and he would nicely tell them “I’m sorry, I’m only doing photos for this group”. Wow, just…..WOW! And, the photos turned out AMAZING!!
Disney Magic. It means a lot of things to a lot of different people. Why would I NOT want to keep going back? If I can have these type of adventures, and do it with the most amazing woman in my life, why would I ever want to leave??
Thanks for being here!
