Amanda and I took a trip yesterday to Disneyland to ride The Hollywood Tower or Terror for the last time (that is a blog for later this week…..). Of course I tagged us on Facebook, check it out here if you haven’t seen it:

Facebook alerted me today and asked me to write a review on my experience on Tower of Terror. When I brought up the review page, this was the first review to pop up:
I scrolled on to the next review, then I looked back. It was the sad face that really caught me. Disneyland is a magical place, a place where you’re supposed to be happy. It’s the escape from life my wife and I love to take and just enjoy the atmosphere. So, the sad face brought me back.
Imagine you’re in line for who knows how many hours waiting to go on a ride you love for the last time. You and your friends are so excited, and at the end you step up to PURCHASE the photo of yourselves on that ride. Seriously, with all the cell phones in the world and people taking photos to dodge the $15 Disney charges I didn’t know people still did that!! And once there, you’re told by the Disney cast member that the photo isn’t available.
Being an annual pass holder, these photos are free to us. My heart just sank, and I didn’t even hesitate to reach out to Angela through Facebook (thankfully her page allowed me to send a message to her). I let her know her review really got to me, and if she or any of her friends took a photo of the picture from the ride I can download it for her because it’ll have a # attached to it. (Thank you Disney Mobile App)
So, think about this. You see an alert on Facebook from a total stranger letting you know they’re willing to do something nice for you. What’s the catch? In this day and age trust isn’t an easy thing to come by. I half expected my message to be blocked, or to not hear back from her at all, and I wouldn’t have blamed her. But, she took a chance on me. She or one of her friends got the photo on their cell phone, and she sent me a message back with the # on the photo. I had it downloaded and sent to her within minutes.
She couldn’t believe it. After I sent the photo to her I could FEEL the happiness that came through her message back to me. If it was important enough for her to write a review about it, it was a memory of that day that would always be a dark cloud. That’s just not right, not on any level.
I truly hope that she and her friends smiled when they got their photo. I truly hope that it took away any negative feeling from that day at the park that was on their mind.
I’m not writing this to get praise, I’m not looking for a ‘Good Job’ or anything like that. I’m sharing this because I’m inspired to open my eyes more to positive things. There is so much negativity right now, from our work lives to the world around us. I made a stranger happy today. I made a difference, be it big or small, to someone I’ll never meet. That fills me with a happiness that inspired me to write this, and I hope this will help you watch for those little things in life too. Hold a door for someone, let that person merge in front of you on the freeway, do a little thing that you hope will make a difference for someone.
I thank Angela for taking a chance on a stranger reaching out, and her last Facebook message to me made it all worth it.
Thank you for being here 🙂
Thank you for sharing in your adventures/stories. This made my heart smile. You have ALWAYS been a kind and loving soul in my book. ~Hugs~ to you and your Beautiful wife.
Thank you so much 🙂 I love having a blog to share moments like this, and I’m really happy to see you enjoyed my story. That made my day!
