Wow, it’s been a hot minute. Where have I been? Good grief, I love writing here and it’s been WAY too long. I need to change that. This is one of my passions, I loved creating this page and posting about life’s adventures. Maybe life just got in the way of blogging about life, but I’m back now. So much has happened since our last episode, here are some highlights:
- I survived my first year as a non-Charger fan. It wasn’t easy, there is not a real word to describe how hard it actually was. It was sadness, anger, second guessing myself, back to anger, then happiness watching how hard Spanos is failing in L.A. Thankfully, I still love football. And thankfully more, my wife still loves football! I’ve watched others move on and I completely understand. Losing a team is hard, and everyone is going to handle things differently. I’m still working on my path, but I’m going forward so that’s a start.
- I built a Lego Millennium Falcon. Yes, it’s a thing! And it’s amazing!! It was a birthday gift from Amanda and as much as I knew I wanted it, I had no idea how it was going to affect me. It was relaxing, and it seemed to take all the stress of life away. I had SO much fun doing this, and I can’t wait to find the next one to do.
3. I turned 45. Yikes!! Holy AARP card Batman!! OK it’s not that bad, but STILL! I’ve had grey hair since I was in my 20’s so at least that’s not new. There’s still a lot of life to live, and to this point I can say I’ve lived a full life already. There is a lot of good to come, and I’m looking forward to the direction my life is going to go. Here’s to another 45!
But since last we spoke, I think there is 1 highlight that really sticks out.
HAMILTON!!! Oh yeah, we saw Hamilton. The first taste I got of Hamilton was listening to the soundtrack in Amanda’s car, and at that point I didn’t get it. Then the hype started building in me. When we went to New York last year we were outside the theater, and all I was thinking is “We’re SO CLOSE!!!”
But alas, it was not meant to be at that time. It became a bucket list item, a very large bucket list item. It went out of sight, out of mind for a while, then 2 life changing things happened. It was announced Hamilton was going on tour, one of the cities announced was San Diego, and then this:
Let me take a moment to give credit where credit is due. My in-laws made this happen, and I do not think humans have invented a way to show praise for this. I have always appreciated all they have done for me, just making me feel welcome in their family is enough. But this, this was something on a whole new level. I will be thanking them for a long time on this one. There were people that would have killed to be “in the room where it happens”, and we were there. Mark and Debbie, I will say thank you here, but I will forever show you that you are just too much.
As for the show, it can’t be described. To give you any indication of my love for this show, I’m listening to the soundtrack as I write this. I’ve seen MANY shows, and this one tops them all. This isn’t just a Broadway show; Wicked is a Broadway show. This is a happening. I hope in this life to see this one again, and if given the chance, I will not throw away my shot!
Well my friends, it’s great to be back. There is a lot coming this year, and I will be doing my best to make some changes that are long, long overdue. Keep your fingers crossed, I’m going after big things and I won’t stop until I’m there. In the meantime I’ll be back soon.
And as always, thank you for being here 🙂
